Set on the outskirts of historical Durham the Durham Revision School is the perfect setting to study and revise.  We offer invaluable intensive revision classes at competitive rates during the Easter holidays just before the main A ’level and GCSE examinations.  All our courses are non-residential. In small, focussed groups we provide excellent tuition, first class resources and a reputation of academic distinction.  Our main intention is to enable our students to undertake their forthcoming exams well-prepared and with confidence.

Revision courses for A’ level and GCSE candidates have become more popular in recent years as the need for exam success grows.  Courses offer a different approach to the key topics in the chosen subject and can provide an overview of the specified core material. Such courses provide an enormous aid at this vital time to students who are seeking to maximise their potential. Courses are offered at both ‘AS’ and ‘A2′ level. GCSE courses in the core subjects are also available.

Our tutors’ top priority is to motivate students by encouraging them to strive for the highest grades possible for them.  They do this by arming them with exceptional study skills as well as in-depth knowledge about their chosen subject. The result is an excellent level of enjoyable and stimulating interaction and participation, promoting active, effective and efficient revision.  Students who attend our revision courses are looking for well-organised and highly-structured courses which are geared specifically towards the expectations of their exams.

Durham Revision School offers revision classes that averages 5/8 students per group. Tutors also offer one-to-one support for specific needs; tutors tailor work to focus on the individuals’ needs as well as more general supervision of how to prepare for exams. A typical lesson would cover planning, structuring and proofreading work, subject revision by focussing on specific topics as well as exam practice by using past papers and specimen questions. Tests would be undertaken and marked with areas to focus improvement on.

Revision lessons make continual reference to specimen questions, past papers and examiners’ reports providing detailed information on the requirements of each paper. Sample questions completed under supervised and timed conditions helps build confidence which in turn breeds success.  Familiarity with the exam papers’ style and format is therefore essential. Students are given advice as to how to organise and prioritise their revision over the crucial final weeks when they are at home revising. Our revision tutors have many years’ experience providing intensive exam-oriented revision and are all exceptionally qualified.

After the completion of the course, students will receive a constructive and informative report that focuses on their strengths, weaknesses and any areas that require particular attention or improvement for their forthcoming exams.  Durham Revision School also provides students with a course pack comprising of useful tips for active and effective revision.

Teaching takes place at Houghall College, where the excellent facilities include a library, resources rooms, computer rooms as well as a canteen with a choice of hot and cold food and drinks. The environment is an ideal one for thorough, intensive study, and students are invariably inspired by the tranquil surroundings which are set in over 400 acres of beautiful countryside. Only non-residential places are available.
